Joe Sorren is an American illustrator born in Chicago, Illinois in 1970, but was raised in Arizona. He graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1993 and began to work for publications like the New Yorker, Time, Juxtapoz,Rolling Stone, Warner Bros, etc. His work has been used for album cover art like the Attraction to All Things Uncertain. His work is almost exclusively painted with oil on canvas and takes on a conceptual and children's story book quality. He is a gold medal winner in the Society of Illustrators. He has exibited work in group shows in galleries in LA, San Francisco, and New York and has completed a mural that took nine months to complete in Flagstaff, Arizona where he lives. The most compelling aspect of his art is odd sense that something is alway occurring beneath the superficial painting. His colors always hold high chroma, but despite their forthright nature they still look unsettling. He also has an interesting way of deforming characters into rigid yet quietly expressive poses.
