Artist Research: Ray Jones

American illustrator Ray Jones recently graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art earning a BFA in illustration. He is currently pursuing an MFA at the School of Visual Arts and has published work in the New York Times. I think Jones' work looks great because of his smart blend of traditional and digital work. He usually does line work (which looks stunning and fresh) for his illustrations and then overlays digital paint with a wash of watercolor to achieve texture. I also enjoy Jones' imagery and characters because of their originality and stylistic execution which evokes an ethereal and otherworldly sensibility (which is something strive for with my personal stuff).
